Redefining furniture for
functional living and enjoyment
Design often begins with a simple thought, a probing question or an insightful observation.
The observation for Cantina Design was that wine is stored either in cheap ugly modular racks or costly tailor made display cabinets or rooms with little in-between for wine lovers with limited space.
And so the idea for Ottavio was formed.
Elegant furniture designed to display, store and organise wine for the many wine lovers who don’t have underground wine cantina’s or bespoke wine rooms.
And since 2023 that’s been our focus – designing an elegant form and refining it to be as pure and functional as possible, made to the highest quality standards in Melbourne, Australia.
About the designer
Cantina began with Yuri, a Ukrainian-Australian designer who was raised between the rattle and hum of his Father’s sheet metal workshop on the outskirts of Canberra and his home life steeped in Ukrainian language and culture focused on simple living, family, food and tradition.
Together with his passion for design and creative ability, Yuri studied Industrial Design to grow his design language and craft, focusing on function and innovation.
Yuri later honed his sensibility at Politecnico di Milano, where he refined his design language and vision, finding inspiration in the timeless restraint and simplicity of European modernism.
Cantina is his ode to this ethos and a reflection of these values — a collection rooted in honest materials, elegant forms, and the belief that beauty lives in simplicity. Every piece is a quiet invitation to live more meaningfully, more intentionally, and always, more beautifully.
